Mechanical Design Coordinator

The position of Mechanical Design Coordinator is currently available with one of Atrium Recruitment clients. This role offers an excellent salary, which is negotiable based on experience, and includes a range of benefits such as a car allowance, pension plan, and private healthcare.
 
Our Client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Coordinator to join their team. The primary responsibility of this role is the development and completion of mechanical services design documentation, as well as the management of the design process across multiple projects. The company typically engages in projects with a value of up to £8 million. The ideal candidate will be a Design Coordinator capable of ensuring that project documentation meets the highest standards of completeness, conciseness, regulatory compliance, and adherence to project budgets. This role will involve close collaboration with external design consultants, architects, clients, main contractors, sub-contractors, and project stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
 
Key responsibilities for this position include:
 
·Establishing and reaching agreement on design programs with clients and design consultants.
·Monitoring the progress of design work against agreed-upon schedules and ensuring timely completion.
·Directly managing both internal design teams and external design consultants.
·Reviewing and critically assessing mechanical services design documentation throughout the design process to ensure alignment with the project brief, coordination, spatial considerations, and regulatory compliance.
·Participating in design coordination and design team meetings with the professional team, setting meeting objectives, clearly communicating actions, and resolving design-related issues.
·Engaging with sub-contractors to incorporate valuable design advice.
·Developing, issuing, and tracking requests for information (RFIs).
·Collaborating with pre-construction teams to ensure adherence to project budgets.
·Undertaking minor mechanical design work to support Contract/Project Managers.
·Ensuring the development of coordinated working drawings to facilitate installation.
·Attending internal pre-contract meetings to present design documentation to contract teams and project managers upon contract award.
·Preparing required reports for clients and the professional team and maintaining written records of key aspects of correspondence and communication.
·Ensuring strict adherence to health and safety policies and procedures, taking appropriate action in cases of non-compliance.
 
 
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
 
·A comprehensive understanding of the Building Services design process.
·A minimum of four years of experience in mechanical services design within a consultancy practice.
·A proven ability to undertake the design of all mechanical services systems, including public health, domestic water services, heating systems, cooling, and ventilation systems.
·A degree in Building Services Engineering and progress toward or attainment of Membership in CIBSE.
·Strong knowledge of working in 3D and a track record of working on BIM level 2 projects and associated BIM execution plans.
·Detailed knowledge of low and zero-carbon technologies.
·In-depth knowledge of various project procurement methods, from traditional single-stage to two-stage design and build contracts.
·Strong organizational, communication, and motivational skills.
·The ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines on multiple projects.
·The ability to work both independently and as an active team member.
·A proactive approach to problem-solving.
·A solid understanding of all aspects of health and safety within the industry and the capability to implement control measures at the site level.
·The ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a client-facing environment.
